Played out on a bitterly cold January morning, these games saw much improvement from the previous outing in both performance and concentration. Much of the early focus was on Jerry’s boiled sweets and it was agreed that they should be locked away until AFTER future games to remove unwanted distraction.
Sandbach’s youngsters were far greater in number and so Port reverted to borrowing a player to enable the group to be split into two.
The freezing conditions failed to dampen Port’s enthusiasm, and they ran out worthy winners in 3 out of the 4 games. Games 1, 3 and 4 went Port’s way by scores of 12-10, 11-10 and 17-14 , with the only reverse being in game 2, which they lost by the odd couple of points 12-14.
Amongst the try scorers were Max 9, Oliver 6, Tomos 4, Denzil 1, and Matthew 3. (I have yet to develop the ability to watch two games simultaneously and record the try scorers!)
