Whilst the referee appeared out of his depth port need to retain their discipline regardless, playing 30 minutes of the game with 14 men took it's toll and Crewe ran out eventual winners 23-5. Ports solitary try came from veteran prop Paul Edwards crashing over from short range after some good work from the forwards. The Rees Developments Man of the Match award was given to Scrum Half Dan Burns who was had a strong game around the breakdowns. Port Head Coach Steve Dorrington was dissappointed at the defeat and the ill disciplne of the team, " we have to improve our overall fitness and eliminate the penalties we give away which have cost us dearly in all our games this season"
