The One with Good Rugby, ruined reputations & Aliens!!!!!!!!!!

Today started early for our M&J section with an earlier than usual start so our ever growing minis section could get in some training before our junior teams arrived to warm up.
After a good warm up both our U12s and U13s team took to the field ,donning the new Kit looking like a well organised and professional unit.
Our U12s nervously took to the Pitch to face of against one of the bigger local rivals, worried about facing a team with the reputation Wirral have. Despite the difficulties we have faced in recent months at training and lack of time playing together in the age group, the mighty Oilers proved what we are about. Our U12s showed Wirral that reputation is worthless if you cant back it up, and dominated The boys from Wirral right from the start. Nothing Wirral had could stop the onslaught with tries coming from all angles, with the game finishing 10-7 to the Mighty "O"s.
Meanwhile on the next pitch our U13s faced our closest competition in Helsby. We have had some tough battles with Helsby over the years and it has always been a tough close game. Today was no exception, After a short while though the Oilers started to get it together and come out on top, winning the physical battles and creating the space to attack out wide giving them a 4-2 lead going into the break.
After a quick break the boys took to the pitch pumped and raring to go and dish out more of the same. Unfortunately after a short period our M&J captain Max O took a serious knock and play was suspended so first aid could be administered. Due to the injury to MO he couldn't be moved and an ambulance was called.
A 2nd pitch was set up and play resumed whilst coaches tended to MO and kept him comfortable. Understandably our boys had lost focus to see their Captain Fantastic down and not in a good way, but they carried on playing and showed great bravery and commitment to see the game through to the end eventually loosing by 2. But as both the Coaches were dealing with the incident and the worry of an injured friend i feel this was a creditable result.
Our MOM today go to Josh Anderton (U12) & Harvey Kane (U13). both boys played really well and as usual gave it their all.
As the games came to a close the Little green men(paramedics) in the spaceship with flashing lights(ambulance) came and abducted our M&J Captain(took to A&E). I am happy to say that he is now home and smiling again, with a sprained neck, concussion and hopefully his first ever KFC. Get well soon Mogley we will resume our chat next session.

I would like to make a point today that when the chips are down and we face adversity, how well we all came together and chipped in. We are a family club and that showed today so many people chipped in with reffing, coaching, first aid, sorting our ruck shop, photography & standing cheering our team on. We could not run our club without volunteers and appreciate each and every single one of you and the hard work you do. so THANK YOU ALL. we go again next week WEARETHEOILERS
