Last Game of the regular season away at Chester.

For the Last game of the regular season our U11s travelled to Chester where they played 2 games against 2 well drilled and very capable Chester teams.
After the usual warmup and words from the coaches the boys nervously took to the field for the first game against Chesters B team, concerned that they were going to be out classed as has happened on previous encounters. But the Mighty Oilers had nothing to fear, The U11s motto of "Win The Rucks, Win The Game" shocked Chester who couldn't handle what was happening to them in their own back yard. The U11s physically dominated and bullied the Home team to go into half time 4-2 up.
Chester came back strong in the 2nd half as the oilers switched off in the excitement and heat, allowing the hosts to get 4 tries by moving the ball through hands into the wide areas. Luckily the Oilers responded with 4 of our own, rounded off with a worldie of a try from Noah who dived to score doing his very own "ASH SMASH" meaning the oilers finished the first game with an impressive 8-6 win.

After a quick Rest Charlie led the boys onto the field to face the well rested 2nd opponent for the day Chester A. The boys carried on as they had in the first game but fatigue and heat was starting to show, as Chesters fresh players used pace to take the ball down the wing untackled. The boys dug deep and managed to bring it back, finishing the half all square at 3-3. The 2nd and final half kicked off much the same as the first had with some nice even battles with tries being scored by both teams. The breakpoint came when a blatant forward pass allowed Chester through to score, teaching the Oilers the lesson of play to the whistle. Hot, Tired and feeling bit hard done too the Boys carried on, but the damage was compounded when after being tackled , a Chester player was allowed to rise up like a phoenix from the ashes and run on to score. The 2nd game finished 6-5 to Chester A.
As you would expect the boys felt a bit down and hard done too, but were quickly corrected by the coaches.2 years ago we would of folded against opposition from Chester, but today against the odds we had beaten Chester B, and apart from 2 tries that shouldn't of counted we would of drawn against a fresh Chester A team. The amount these boys have come on in the space of time with all that has happened over the last 18months is incredible to see. Over the summer we will grow bigger and stronger, so next year we will right the wrongs.
todays MOM can go to no other than our very own Noah, for his tenacious tackles and runs today, topped off by his TRY of the season contender.
Our TREDS champion is Charlie for his as always super high pressure style of play and aggression, but today he led his team and supported everyone with his constant talking and leadership showing his captain prowess.
Well done to everyone involved and all parents for the support you all give. And thank you to Chester for a great season finale.
