1st game back in 6 weeks

Today the U12s travelled to Parkonians to play the first game since the 13th Feb.
After a decent warm up the boys took the pitch to start the game.
Parks started really well and the lack of game time and poor numbers at training really showed. Missed tackles and generally poor play saw the opposition going into half time 6-0 up.
After a quick talking too and a switch around the boys kicked off the second half, showing what we know they are capable of. some good solid work from all over the pitch and a complete change in attitude boosted the confidence of the young Oilers , who started the fight back and caused Parks to fall apart and get sloppy. One of the Parks players was shown red for throwing a punch as the pressure was compounded, leaving his team on the back foot and a man down. The Oilers carried on applying pressure but unfortunately time had ran away from them with the game being stopped slightly short due to things getting out of hand and scrappy on pitch from both sides. Still a brave comeback saw the boys being able to hold their heads up, winning the second half.
Final score Parks 8 Oilers 6.

A special mention today to Victor who literally joined us this morning and had a cracking game. hopefully the first of many games for the port.
Also for Jack O who joined us last week and played his first game today and managed to bag himself a Try amongst some great play.

TREDS award today goes to Noah, some excellent play from Mustard today who relished his opportunity at centre, Picking the team up and driving them forward to start the fight back.(Showing his old man how to play).

MoM goes to Jack C. Coombesy had what i personally think was the best game I've seen him play today, carrying the ball forward and smashing the rucks (sometimes with his head). His passion and drive today inspired the lads around him. Well Done Jack.

I would like to also mention Mikey today scoring an absolute world class try today with a chip and chase from his own line through to the opposition line to bag himself a score.

Everyone had excellent moments today we just need a bit of consistency and chemistry , but that all comes from playing and training together, so lets have a big push to get down on a wed so we can all grow together.

Not long of the season left now so lets make the most of it.

see you all Wednesday
